The City of Ellsworth has contracted with Pine Tree Waste, a division of Casella, to collect solid waste from residential households. Curbside trash collection is a pay per bag system and each bag must have a RED $2 City of Ellsworth trash collection sticker attached and clearly visible. You may use a private hauler and not participate in the city curbside program.
Please click here to download the collection schedule by street.
Pine Tree Waste (Casella) observes the following holidays:
- New Years Day
- Memorial Day
- Fourth of July
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving
- Christmas
In the event that one of these holidays falls on a collection day, route schedules may be modified. The City will post any collection schedule changes at City Hall and the Transfer Station/Recycling Center. Information will also be available on the City website, the City, Police, and Fire Department Facebook pages, the Local Access Channel, and a notice in a newspaper of general circulation at least seven (7) days prior to any change.
If you will not be home on the morning of the trash pickup day, please take your tagged trash bags to the Ellsworth Transfer Station. Bags left out beside the road overnight are almost certain to be opened by animals.
Each bag must have a clearly visible RED $2 sticker attached. Any bag weighing more than 50 pounds will be refused. Put your bags at the curbside before 7am. If you live on a private road, place your bag with red sticker at the designated areas where the private road meets the public road.
